Paris Saint-Germain’s Hugo Ekitike (21 years old) will have to make an important decision about his future in the coming days after being sidelined by the club since the beginning of the season.

Excluded by PSG last summer in order to force his departure, the former Reims player finds himself in a very difficult situation in the French capital. Since arriving a few months ago, Luis Enrique does not count on the French striker and the offensive recruitment during the summer has made it clear to Ekitike. Bought for nearly 30 million euros in 2022, the Reims native risks wasting his career if he does not accept a new challenge in January.

Frankfurt comes back strong

Since the start of the winter transfer window, several English and German clubs have approached the player’s entourage as well as Paris Saint-Germain. This case could accelerate in the coming days. A Bundesliga club, Eintracht Frankfurt, is indeed pushing to sign Ekitike. Currently 6th in the German championship after 17 matchdays, Frankfurt had made a first attempt last year but the French striker had refused to be included in the negotiations for Randal Kolo Muani’s transfer.

Has the disappointment been overcome?

Barring a huge twist, the former Reims player will remain a symbol of a huge disappointment for the Parisian management, who saw him as a potential successor to Kylian Mbappé. This failure now seems to have been accepted by the main concerned, who has realized that a departure has become inevitable. Of course, a large financial sacrifice will have to be made in case of a transfer to Germany, but several French forwards have found a real sporting haven there in recent years. According to Fussball News, Ekitike is now open to the idea of a move to Frankfurt. Wolfsburg and Wolverhampton are also in the running, but Eintracht seems to have a lead in this case.
